By road
M60 from the South (clockwise)
Leave the M60 at junction 13. Follow the slip road and take the third exit at the first roundabout, marked Swinton A572. At the next roundabout take the first available exit (after M60 slip road joins), for Swinton A572.
Follow the road until you reach the first mini-roundabout (immediately after a Co-op Late Shop) and turn left onto Moorside Rd. Follow Moorside Rd to the main interchange with East Lancashire Rd. Go straight across the interchange, Ellesmere Street is the first right.
M60 from the North (anti-clockwise)
Leave M60 at junction 14. Follow slip road on to A580 - East Lancashire Road. You are now heading towards St Helens, in order to turn around and rejoin the East Lancashire Road heading towards Salford/Swinton, turn first right into Old Clough Lane.
M61 from North
Leave M61 at junction 2 heading for Salford A580. Follow the slip road on to the East Lancashire Road. Turn left into Moorside Road.
Rail
Moorside Station is situated approximately 5 minutes walk from ALSG at the top of Moorside Rd (A
service runs from Manchester
Victoria station direct to Moorside Road every
30 minutes.). Up to date and detailed train times can be found at the train operator’s web site : www.northernrail.org This is only a small station and if you are travelling alone you may prefer to travel to Piccadilly Train Station and take a taxi. The taxi ride will take between 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.
Airport
Manchester Airport is approximately 30 minutes drive from ALSG. Situated to the South East the approach route is from the M60 South, exiting at junction 13.
Buses
It takes approx 40 minutes from the city centre to the ALSG training centre using Manchester’s comprehensive bus service which runs along both the A580 East Lancashire Road (services 34/ X34/32/12) and Chorley Road near to Moorside train station (services 36/37/38). Manchester buses are operated by different companies each of whom offer a one day ticket but also available is a day ticket called system one which allows you to travel on buses run by any operator. You can purchase these via this website: http://www.systemonetravelcards.co.uk.
Car parking
Limited car parking is available for staff and faculty at the rear of the main ALSG building and is accessed off Arthur Street. Overflow parking for candidates is available in the far side of the carpark at the ‘Moorside Farm’ public house situated off Moorside Rd and accessed via Priestley Road (sat nav: M27 9LD). Please remember to display your parking permit as clamping is in force within the main area of the carpark - click here for a printable version of the candidate parking permit.
