The aim of the CPiP course is to provide
specialty trainees with the competencies required for their on-going child
protection practice. The programme is aimed at higher trainees from
paediatrics, however, trainees from other specialties can also undertake the
programme. You must be an ST4 or above and have completed the Child Protection
Recognition and Response (CPRR) course, which covers most of the
intercollegiate document level 3 competencies at basic level, or an equivalent
training*, prior to undertaking CPiP. Candidates who have not completed this
course will be required to undertake elements of it on-line prior to commencing
the Child Protection in Practice programme. Please see the RCPCH
website for further information on the
safeguarding educational programmes and their SGC levels.
*If you feel you have completed
alternative training that covers the competencies, please email enquiries@alsg.org with details and the working group chair will review your application.
