The purpose of this education programme is to prepare instructors to teach on the Child Protection Recognition and Response (CPRR) course and the SAFE care closer to home programme. The selection process for the course is described below: There are two potential routes to becoming a CPRR trainer:
- Route 1: If you are a consultant, associate specialist or named or designated nurse then you should read this document which explains the full process.
- Route 2: As an ST4-ST7 in paediatrics, if you complete a CPRR provider course, you may be nominated to become a CPRR trainer. If you are recommended, then you would follow this process.
SAFE Instructor selection
There are also two potential routes for becoming a SAFE instructor:
- Route 1: Existing ALSG instructors with an appropriate clinical background may self-nominate to convert to becoming a SAFE instructor. This process involves completion of the SAFE e-modules. There is no requirement to attend the Facilitation course.
- Route 2: During the SAFE provider courses, the faculty will review candidates using a structured matrix to assess their suitability for instructor training.
