
RCEM Global opportunity - APLS Instructor (Ghana) - Closing date: 24th April at 12.00
We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced medical professionals with APLS Instructor status to support the introduction of APLS in Ghana. This initiative is delivered in partnership with the RCEM Ghana Working Group and the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons’ Emergency Medicine Faculty, made possible through charitable funding from the Advanced Life Support Group.
This programme aims to strengthen Paediatric Emergency Care training for multidisciplinary teams managing acutely ill and injured children. It represents a significant step toward developing sustainable local faculty and building long-term educational capacity in Ghana.
Key Details
- Dates: There is a visit planned 13–23 May 2026 and you will join this visit, and support delivery of 3 APLS provider courses during the visit. Applicants must be fully available for these dates; no flexibility is possible.
- Funding: This is a voluntary role. All reasonable expenses (travel, accommodation, insurance, health-related requirements, and subsistence) will be covered through ALSG donor funding.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have substantial experience in Paediatric Emergency Care
- Hold current APLS Instructor status
- Be confident teaching within multidisciplinary settings
- Yellow fever certificate (in date and a requirement on entry at immigration)
Desirable Attributes
- Registered Nurse or Paediatrician
- Experience or knowledge of Emergency Care / Paediatric Emergency Care in low-resource settings
- Willingness to provide ongoing virtual mentorship and support following the visit to help embed and sustain local APLS delivery
